Messaging
Let's start by adding the content of the emails you will be sending as well as setting the wait time between emails.
First up, let's start adding your emails to your campaign!
1. Click on the Configure button in the Messaging section to open the Campaign Sequence & Messaging editor:

Campaign Sequence & Messaging
2. Hover on the plus, then click the email icon.
3. On the right, you'll be able to select an existing template (if you have any created on your account) or create a new one by clicking the New template button from the top right.
The first email we are going to add to your sequence is an initial email - the first email that will be sent to your prospects explaining why you are emailing and what you are offering.
4. Now, in the editor you can name your template, add the subject line and email content, including using variables to personalize the messaging:

5. Once you're happy with your email, click the Save Template button below to add this to your sequence.
For more information about how to write your perfect first email, see the Email Content section of our Prospecting Tips and Tricks.
Need some help with variables? See Variables in the Email Templates section of the User Guide for more information.
Psst... Did you know we also offer the option to have a template written specifically for you by one of our expert copywriters for a one-off fee? See What's in an Outbase Template? for more information.
Very few campaigns will have just one message, but before we add a second message, you need to decide how long to wait before sending a follow-up.
6. Hover on the plus, then click the wait (clock) icon.
7. On the right, you will be able to set the number of days to wait until the next email will be sent. We recommend waiting 6 days between emails as this allows you to contact prospects on different days each week e.g. if the first email is sent on a Monday, with 6 working days wait, the next will be sent the following Tuesday etc.

Add a Wait Time
8. Click Save.
Follow-ups are used as a nudge or chase on the initial email, in case this was overlooked by the prospect. We recommend keeping these short, with the original email included in the thread below. An example sequence of follow-ups would be:
Follow-Up 1 - Quick reminder e.g. "Just in case you missed the below..."
Follow-Up 2 - Check they are the correct contact e.g. "If you're not the right person, is there someone else I could reach out to...?"
Follow-Up 3 - Ask if there's a better time to reach out e.g. "As this might not be on your radar right now, is there a better time to follow-up...?"
9. Hover on the plus again and click the email icon.
10. As before, you'll be able to select an existing follow-up template (if you have any created on your account) or create a new one.
11. To create a new follow-up, click the New template button in the top right.
12. This will open the editor where you can edit as before.
13. Once you're happy with your email, click the Save Template button below to add this to your sequence.
14. Continue to add wait times and follow-up emails until you have added all of your sequence:

15. Once you’ve added everything, click the Save button at the bottom of the page.
